I am Paulo Maias, a visual artist working primarily in figurative painting. My background in architecture informs a practice that explores the relationship between space, memory and fiction.

I hold a PhD in Fine Arts (2026) and a Master’s degree in Painting (2012) from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto, and a degree in Architecture (1999) from the Faculty of Architecture of the same university.

Alongside my artistic practice, I have taught visual arts in public primary and secondary schools for over 25 years.
